We may not even realize in Florida since we don't have a dramatic shift in seasons, but the month of March is the start of spring. As the season changes, you may notice more visitors in Orlando as many flock to the area from all over the country to enjoy their spring break. More people may mean limited availability and a price increase for places to stay around the state, but we compiled a list of ideas below if you are looking for last-minute things to do around your UCF apartment for spring break. Let's get ready because the University of Central Florida's spring break is coming soon from March 6 through March 13 this year.
APARTMENT POOL
Let's start at home, and by home, we mean what your apartment offers. Many or most Orlando apartments include a pool for their residents to enjoy. The spring season is a beautiful time for our area. Not yet the sweltering heat of summer but warm enough to enjoy a dip in your UCF apartment pool. If your apartment has an outdoor grill area, invite a few friends over and make a day out of it. Relax and enjoy your spring break from classes without leaving home.
BEACH
Next, we will explore what Florida is probably most known for: our beaches. Your apartment near UCF is centrally located within the state, and in either direction you head, you will find a beach. I-4 west takes you to the Tampa area, including Clearwater and St. Petersburg. East on SR 50 takes you to Cocoa Beach and the Melbourne area. Or northeast of the UCF campus, you will find the famous beaches of Daytona and New Smyrna.
SPRINGS
Another natural and popular spot in our state is the springs, and you will find many within a short distance of your apartment. West in the city of Apopka, you will find Wekiwa Spring State Park and Kelly Park/Rock Springs and in Longwood, Wekiva Island. North on I-4 in Orange City, you can by chance see Manatees in Blue Springs State Park.
THEME PARKS
The Orlando area is home to many of the world's most popular theme parks, including Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld. You could plan a staycation at the many resorts surrounding the theme parks with or without a visit to the actual theme parks. The resorts are a short distance from the University of Central Florida campus, so you can feel like you went away on a trip but are still close to home.
TRUE FLORIDA
Whether or not you are a native Floridian, a spring break to experience authentic Florida may be right up your alley and may not be crowded with the many spring break tourists. You can take an airboat ride, visit the Gators at Gatorland or explore space at the Kennedy Space Center.
Although the crowds may be bigger anywhere this time of year in Florida and specifically the Orlando area, we hope this list helps you find some last-minute spring break ideas around your apartment near UCF.
