"Reasonably priced," has a really loose definition when apartment shopping in Downtown Orlando. Apartments that are walking distance to the downtown bars and restaurants are all luxury apartments that come with a luxury Downtown price tag. You have to decide, is it worth it to pay the higher dollar amount to be able to walk home from your favorite bar after Friday night drinks? Do you work Downtown? Maybe your time is really valuable, and saving 40 minutes each day of commute time would make the high price tag worth it.

If your budget does not match up with the luxury apartment options in true Downtown Orlando, we have some good news. Downtown is well connected by major highways and public transportation, and this means you can live in a reasonably priced apartment just outside of the city with minimal trouble commuting to work or your favorite bars.

  • Apartments near the 408 East West Expressway

The 408 is a favorite road  for  many Orlando commuters. This road has a few different toll plazas that cost over a dollar, but this means that the road is rarely congested. You can find a very fairly priced apartment on the West side of Orlando in Ocoee or  Winter Garden and get to Orlando with a 15 minute commute.

  • Apartments near I-4

A huge construction project kicked off for I-4 in 2016, so we're looking at a few years of heavy construction on the road. This has caused some extra congestion, but the workers actually do a great job of not closing lanes during peak rush hours. The project might add an extra 10 minutes or so to your commute, but overall apartments near I-4 are a pretty safe bet if you're looking to work in Downtown Orlando.

  • Winter Park Apartments

Winter Park is situated just North of Downtown Orlando. You should be able to take back roads to get to work Downtown, and should experience moderate traffic during peak times.

  • Millenia Apartments

Millenia is a popular area for commuters located South of Downtown Orlando. From Millenia, you can choose between  I-4 or S. John Young Parkway for your commute depending  on traffic.

We live, work, and play in Orlando, and we hope this guide helps you choose an area of town that is right for you. One last tip, living  in Orlando you might want to check traffic before you go hop in the car to drive anywhere. With so many major highways and options for getting from point A to point B, oftentimes a GPS will have a suggestion for you that is not the usual route. Our favorite app for traffic patters is Google Maps.
