Living in Downtown Orlando, you'll never be at a loss for things to do. There are several music venues are located in downtown Orlando, including Club Firestone, the Social, and Back Booth. Go for a stroll in any of the area's public parks. If you're in the city after dark, each night at 8pm and 9:30pm, the Lake Eola fountain lights up for a 6-minute illuminated show. Visible from many of the sky rise buildings in the area, most apartments near Lake Eola offer views of the fountain show and famous swan boats.

Loch Haven Park is the center of art and culture in Downtown Orlando. Here you'll find the area's museums and theaters, like the Mennello Museum of American Art and the Orlando Shakespeare Theater.

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is one of Downtown Orlando's newest additions and promises an array of live performances and events for visitors year round. The Dr. Phillips Center's blend of ballet, opera, music, comedy, and theater, and has put Orlando on the map as a major center for culture and the arts in the United States.

Shopping in Downtown Orlando

Shopping around downtown Orlando is plentiful! There are tons of small boutiques in sections of Downtown Orlando like Thornton Park. Additionally, a new development was recently built just south of Downtown Orlando, which includes a Super Target, T.J. Maxx, and several other dining and shopping options. Named SODO ("South of Downtown Orlando"), its upper stories are comprised of live-work apartments available to rent.

The Fashion Square Mall on Colonial Drive is also just minutes from Downtown Orlando, giving you even more shopping options to choose from.  

Downtown Dining 

What's great about Downtown Orlando is its blend of local dives, trendy cafes, fast food, and national chains. Grab a bite at Dexter's of Thornton Park, or stop by Starbucks for a cup of iced coffee. Trip Advisor lists over 40 restaurants in the area, almost all of which have received top marks from diners.  At the top of the list are The Rusty Spoon and Kres Chophouse, two of the Central Business District's highest rated restaurants.

There are plenty of bars to choose from like Wall Street Cantina, a causal Mexican bar located on the corner of Wall Street and Orange Avenue, to something more upscale like the resort style Ember Bar and Restaurant.

Sports fans, you're in for a treat! Living in Downtown Orlando, you'll be down the street from the Amway Center and the Citrus Bowl and you can catch the Orlando Magic and the Orlando City Soccer Club, without the hassle of dealing with game day traffic and parking.
