THINGS TO DO IN WINDERMERE

Windermere is a beautiful suburb nestled in the southern region of Orlando. While it may not be known for an abundance of shopping and nightlife options like its neighboring communities, the serenity and high-end dwelling offerings are part of the allure. 

PERFECT FOR NATURE LOVERS

Although Windermere is known for its established homes and apartments, there is still plenty to do if you feel like getting some fresh air! The Windermere Country Club offers some of the best golfing in the area, along with tennis, swimming, social events and various other activities. With the Butler Chain of Lakes in the vicinity, there is no shortage of boating and water sports. If you're looking for a relaxing day on the water, be sure to sign up for an Orlando Lake Tour. If you're an adrenaline junkie, maybe a day at Florida Ski School is just what you need!

CLOSE PROXIMITY TO ORLANDO FUN!

Although Windermere does not contain any large-scale attractions, there are plenty of nearby areas that offer exciting shopping, dining, and recreational opportunities. Windermere a short drive to Universal Studios, Walt Disney World, and International Drive, where there is an abundance of shops, restaurants, and tourist attraction type thrill rides.

DINING AND NIGHTLIFE IN WINDERMERE

Windermere may not have the multitude of dining and nightlife options like their northern neighbors, but they hold their own with a unique offering of restaurants and bars. 33 & Melt is a locally-owned grilled cheese bar, offering freshly prepared creations and a handful of local craft beer offerings. For a more upscale dining experience, residents may opt for Bella Tuscany, a local Italian eatery. For bakery and brunch lovers, locals enjoy both the Dixie Cream Café and My French Café, both known for their delicious sweets and baked goods.

There are a number of schools serving the apartments in Windermere.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Children in grades K-5 are zoned for Windermere Elementary, Keenes Crossing Elementary and Sunset Park Elementary.

MIDDLE SCHOOLS

Middle school students are zoned for Gotha Middle School.

HIGH SCHOOLS

There are no public high schools in Windermere, but there are a few private schools, including Windermere Preparatory School, The Crenshaw School and the New Academy.

SHOPPING IN WINDERMERE

Summerport Village in Windermere contains a handful of local boutiques and shops. There are several options located off of Main Street as well, including specialty stores such as Tres Chic and Windermere Fine Art & Custom Framing. If you need a great gift (or maybe a gift for yourself) Tim's Wine Market features hundreds of different selections and has a reputation for being the place to hang out on Friday nights in Windermere, due to their free wine tastings.

BUSINESS COMMUNITY IN WINDERMERE

Since the business community of Windermere is virtually nonexistent, most professionals living in homes or apartments in Windermere must commute to work. Downtown Orlando is about a 30 minute drive from Windermere. Real Estate is the main business opportunity in Windermere, while other residents who work in the area tend to be employed by the number of local shops or restaurants.

TRAFFIC AND DRIVING IN WINDERMERE

Traffic is most often never a problem for homeowners or apartment renters in Windermere, a welcomed break from other areas in town. There are mostly small roads that branch off of a few main roads, so traffic congestion is not an issue. The main roads in Windermere include Conroy Windermere Road, East 6th Avenue, Main Street, Maguire Road, Windermere Road, Park Avenue, and Roberson Road. However, for Windermere residents that must commute to downtown Orlando, rush hour traffic on I-4 can be a hassle.
