While the rest of the country still has more wintertime to come, we can expect spring right around the corner once the holidays are over. Yes, we may have a cold snap or a few, but overall, the temperatures remain mild around the Orlando area throughout the year. Spring is a beautiful time around your apartment near UCF and one to enjoy OUTSIDE. Spring is a short time when temperatures are pleasant without the overwhelming heat that summer will soon bring, humidity is a little lower, and mosquitoes aren't out in force just yet. Below is a list of things to do around your apartment before summertime.
Thanksgiving and the holiday season bring even more visitors to Orlando. And yes, there is not a time of the year when we don't have frequent tourists, but in the springtime, before spring break starts, is the time to get out and enjoy all the things that the crowds may keep you away the rest of the year. So, all Floridians flock to the theme parks, beaches, and springs these next few weeks before the crowds arrive.
SPRINGS
In Apopka, you will find many natural springs around your student apartment, like Wekiwa Spring State Park and Kelly Park/Rock Springs. The water may still feel too cool for a swim, but the parks are lovely for walking, relaxing in the sun, or having a picnic. Summer brings long lines and limited capacity, so spring is a great time to check out our local parks.
BEACH
The University of Central Florida is centrally located within the state, which means either direction you head, you will find a beach. You will find Cocoa Beach or, further north Daytona and New Smyrna beaches on the east coast. On the west coast near Tampa, Clearwater, and St Pete beaches. Same as the springs, the water still may be a little cool, but it is always nice to visit the beach and spend the day in the sun without the crowds of spring break or summertime.
THEME PARKS
Not sure if there is ever a slow time for our theme parks that attract visitors from all over the world, but after the holidays you may find some days a little more manageable. Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World or Legoland are so enjoyable in the spring without the Florida heat and they are just a short drive from your apartment near UCF.
OUTDOOR EXERCISE
Spring is the time to ditch the indoor gym around the University of Central Florida for a few months and take advantage of the many apartment walking or nature trails. Grab a friend or a roommate for a stroll to catch up and take a break from schoolwork.
