What are some of the best bike trails that I can explore near UCF apartments?

Sometimes, after a long day of class the last place you want to be is stuck inside University of Central Florida apartments. Many people may find that the best way to blow off steam and stress from the day is to hit the bike trails! Lucky for the adventurous types, there are a wide variety of bike trails to choose from in the Orlando area…many of them being a short distance from UCF apartments!

Orange County bike trails near UCF apartments

Orange County has a very generous offering of bike trails, available for anyone living in apartments near UCF. The West Orange Trail is one of the most popular areas of Central Florida's bike trail network. Stretching 22 miles out of Apopka, it is scenic, well-maintained and offers restrooms and water fountains along the way. It runs pretty far west of the UCF area, but is worth it if you are looking for a little bit of an adventure. While this may be a bit of a trek for you, the Little Econ Greenway is a bit closer to campus and offers a scenic water view the entire stretch of the trail. The Cady Way Trail meanders through the Goldenrod area to the Orlando Fashion Square Mall. It is a bit of an urban ride, where riders will have to face the open road on a few sections. The Lake Baldwin Trail circles none other than…you guessed it, Lake Baldwin! This 2.5 mile ride links up to many of the other trails in the area and is near a very popular dog park. The Orlando Urban Trail/Dinky Line Trail follows the old Dinky Line train route from Orlando to Winter Park.

Seminole County bike trails near UCF apartments

If you'd like to make a bit of a trip from UCF apartments, there are plenty of bike trails in neighboring counties as well. Seminole County boasts the ever-so-popular Cross Seminole Trail, which provides 23 miles of shady riding throughout almost the entire north-south distance of the county. It also meets up with the Cady Way Trail and is virtually impossible to find a dead end. The Seminole Wekiva Trail meets up with the other end of this one too. This suburban trail is 14 miles long and offers its users a couple of tunnels, a recreational softball complex, plenty of wildlife and shady tree canopies.

Lake County bike trails near UCF apartments

Even further off the beaten path for your bike riding pleasure is the General James A. Van Fleet State Trail in Lake County. This is a bit of a drive from apartments near UCF, but it worth it for the riding enthusiast. It is 29 miles long and is almost entirely straight, with only a handful of road crossings. This trail is a great place to check out wildlife and just listen to the sound of your bicycle tires hitting the pavement. Lake County also boasts the South Lake Trail System, which includes hills and scenic views of some of the beautiful lakes in this Central Florida area.
